The Government has imposed a third national lockdown in England, which is a severe hit for many businesses in what has proved to be an extremely difficult period.\u00a0 Under the restrictions outlined at Prime Minister Boris Johnson\u2019s announcement all non-essential retail, hospitality and personal care services must close\u2014or remain closed\u2014until at least the middle of February 2021.<\/p>\n
However, to assist businesses in the months ahead, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has unveiled a \u00a34.6 billion aid package to help UK businesses survive the latest lockdown. Chancellor Sunak quoted that this financial support is hoped to \u201c\u2026 help businesses to get through the months ahead and, crucially, it will help sustain jobs, so workers can be ready to return when they are able to reopen.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n As part of this financial aid package, Chancellor Sunak has implemented a one-off top up grant for retail, hospitality and leisure sector businesses.\u00a0 The grants are worth up to \u00a39,000 per property (dependent on corresponding rateable value) to help businesses sustain themselves until spring.<\/p>\n The one-off top ups will be granted to closed businesses based on rateable values.
